“No rift in the group”: Anna Hazare

annajiMumbai: Anna Hazare finally broke his silence and declared that there was no rift in the group regarding either the expulsion of Mufti Shameem Kazmi or over the tie-up with Baba Ramdev for a joint rally. Mr Mufti Shameem Kazmi was expelled after he was allegedly found recording the proceedings of Core Committee meeting in Noida in UP. Mr. Kazmi has claimed he quit the camp as the group was turning anti-Muslim.

Mufti Shameen Qasmi told the media that he wasn’t being heard and hence it only seemed appropriate to walk out. Speaking on the expulsion of Mufti Shameem Kazmi, Mr. Hazare said, “There is no rift. What rift are you talking about? A team member who leaked information yesterday, there was a problem. People in our team had asked why he did so. So he said he would not come back.”

Even amid reports of growing unease within his team over a tie-up with Baba Ramdev for a joint rally, Mr Hazare said there were no differences in the team over the participation of Mr Ramdev in the anti-corruption movement. He said that he would not be touring the country with Mr Ramdev, but added that he did not rule out sharing the stage with the yoga guru at a later stage. “There is no gap in the one-and-a-half-month tour that I am going on. I told you before that we are not going to be touring together. But we are fighting for the same purpose of getting back black money and the Lokpal and the Lokayukta bills. We shall stand together and there is no change on that. After my Maharashtra trip, when we go together, it is possible that we will be on the stage together,” Mr Hazare said.
