3 member committee to probe into orissa labourer death

SeethuThiruvananthapuram: A three member committee has been appointed to probe into the death of the Orissa labourer who died at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College due to lack of adequate medical attention. The committee has been appointed as per the recommendations of the DME report which had requested for a detailed inquiry into the matter. The cabinet considered the DME report though it was not part of the agenda.

DR Usha Kumari, Dr P Anil Kumar and Dr Mohandas have been appointed as the members of the committee. The committee would study the need for installing modern infrastructure and technology at the medical college. It would also conduct a detailed study on the facilities provided in all the medical colleges in Kerala.

The DME report has made it clear that the death was due to the negligence and callousness on the part of the medical authorities. After primary investigation the team reached the conclusion that though the ventilator was not available in the Neuro and Trauma ward ventilators were available at the other wards of the hospital.

18 year old Seethu from Orissa died at the Thiruvananthapuram medical college on last Thursday. The entire issue was brought out by India Vision.
