Actor Jagathy’s condition improves; actor to undergo surgery


Kozhikode: The condition of actor Jagathy Sreekumar is improving, according to medical authorities. The actor who is under treatment at the Malabar Institute of Medical Science will undergo multiple bone surgeries today. If his condition stabilizes he shall be removed from the ventilator tomorrow. The doctors also stated that his respiratory conditions have been showing remarkable improvement.

As per a medical bulletin issued yesterday the actors blood pressure was stable without support and his urine output was normal. “His neurological status has to be reassessed frequently and the final functional status of brain can only be assessed later,” the bulletin said. Sources claim that Mr Jagathy has been speaking when he gains consciousness.  The 61-year actor, who suffered multiple injuries in neck, lung and renal area was responding to medicines. The actor has also sustained two fractures on his right thigh and multiple fractures on his right arm.

Sreekumar,who has acted in over 1,000 films doing a variety of roles, largely as a comedian, met with the accident on his way to Kodagu in Karnataka for the shooting of a new movie when his car rammed into the road median and overturned. He met with an accident at Panambra, near Calicut University in Malappuram district in the wee hours of March 10, 2011.
