Advocate General-KP-DandapaniThiruvananthapuram: Advocate General K P Dandapani who is under line of fire for his controversial statements regarding the Mullaperiyar would appear before the special Cabinet as per the directions of the Chief Minister Ommen Chandy today. The CM has asked him to clear his stand and to clarify his statements regarding the Mullaperiyar issue.

” I have told the AG that I will not be able to take a decision on my own with regard to the controversial statements. The AG has been asked to appear before the Cabinet and clarify his stand with other cabinet members,” Mr Oommen Chandy said. Mr Dandapani accompanied by two additional AG’s P C Iype and K A Jaleel  met the Chief Minister earlier and held a closed door meeting for 15 minutes.

On December 2, 2011 AG had submitted an affidavit before the High court stating that the water level in the dam had nothing to do with its safety and if it collapses the Idukki, Kulamavu and Cheruthoni dams have the strength to contain the heavy flow of water from Mullaperiyar. He came under much flack for his statement with political leaders accusing him of making statements that are contradictory to the states stand and for hurting the sentiments of the people.
