Assembly to discuss petrol price hike

Legislative assembly Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala opposition party moved an application for adjourment motion to discuss the current pertol price hike. Former Finance Minister Thomas Issac moved the adjournment motion. Thomas Issac opined that the price hike could be avoided and this is a result of Governments tie up with huge profit mongering corporates like reliance.

“The UPA government has raised the price 16 times till date. He asked the state government to send a resolution to the centre seeking an explanation as to the reason behind the price rise and as to why the government handed over the power to decide the oil prices to corporates.

In response to the adjournment motion appeal Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said, the government has also sought the repeal of price rise.  This price rise has promoted food inflation. With the Chief Minister expressing his willingness to discuss the issue, Speaker G. Karthikeyan informed that the House will hold discussions at 2.30 pm onwards. CM also urged the Chair to allow live telecast of the discussion.
