Blast near Delhi High Court, 11 killed

New Delhi: A blast has been reported near the Delhi High court a few minutes back at 10:15 today (Wednesday)  morning. “1 are killed and 65 people are injured”,Union Home Secretary, R K Sing said. Of the 65 injured, 8 are in a serious condition. The blast occurred near the 5th gate of Delhi High Court.Those injured are being rushed to the Safdarjung hospital and the RML hospital.

The police and fire force have reached the site. Top officials of Delhi police including Special Commissioner (law and order) Dharmendra Kumar and Joint Commissioner of Special Cell R S Krishnaiah have rushed to the spot. Jt Commissioner (Crime) Sandip Goyal and Special Commissioner P N Aggarwal also joined them.

The bomb, kept in a brief case, appears to be a powerful, sophisticated device, officials said.

Gate No. 5 on Shershah Suri Road, is one of the busiest areas of the Delhi High Court. Passes are made for the litigants at gate no: 5. 100 to 200 people were waiting in queue to get passes for entry into the court complex. The explosion occurred right outside the reception.The Delhi police has cordoned off the area.

The blast is the the second explosion at the Delhi High Court this year. On May 25, a car bomb had exploded in the Delhi High Court. The blast that has occurred at the high security area, questions Indias security condition.
