Breather for UPA, relief for Chidambaram

chidambaramNew Delhi: The patiala house trail court has let P Chidamabaram off the hook. The role of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G spectrum allocation scam will not be investigated. Judge OP Saini delivered his verdict shortly after 1pm.  The judge also rejected a petition filed by Subramanian Swamy who had asked for Mr Chidambaram to be made a co-accused in the telecom scam, which was allegedly fathered by A Raja during his infamous term as Telecom Minister.

“I am surprised and i will appeal before the higher court. I am not dissappointed. This verdict shall not be taken as the final say in this issue,” Subramanian Swamy said after the declaration of the verdict.

Dr Swamy had moved the court seeking to make Mr Chidambaram as an co-accused in the 2G spectrum scam alleging he was as culpable as former Telecom minister A Raja in determining the prices of scarce spectrum and in allowing the dilution of shares.
