CBI inquiry denied; Opposition stages walk out

Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy informed the assembly that there shall be no CBI inquiry in the Titanium case. The opposition had demanded for a CBI inquiry during the adjournment motion.

” Even after ruling for five years why didn’t the LDf take any action with respect to the Titanium Scam, Oommen Chandy questioned. Ilamara Kareem said that there was nothing new in the evidences released by the media yesterday and it was all a hype. These evidences were brought out several times. Supreme Court got in touch with the Monitoring Committee at a time when there was an order to shut down the factory in seven days time, he added.

Oommen Chandy said that he had given three letters to the monitoring committee. “I have only asked for more time. Considering my letter they even withdrew from the proposition of shutting down Titanium factory.  It only on the basis of this so called letter that the Titanium factory was rescued. And I am proud of my achievement,” the CM said. This interest to save the company was based on the workers application to save their jobs.

The High Court is yet to decide whether CBI inquiry is essential in the issue.  Even as the ruing denied CBI inquiry into the case, the opposition staged a walk out.
