CBI investigation into Tatra truck scam inadequate:Prashanth Bhushan

prashanth-bhushanThiruvananthapuram: Team Anna member and Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan who met Opposition leader VS Achuthananthan today opined that the CBI will not be able to effectively inquire into the Tatra truck scam. Mr Prashanth Bhushan spoke to the press after a meeting Mr Achuthananthan at the cantonment house.

” The CBI is under direct control of the government. How can such an investigating agency controlled and governed by the government look into the complex massive scams that exist in the armed forces,” he questioned. Independent agencies such as Lokpal must look into such matters, he said. He also accused the government of harassing and filing false cases against activists who dare to expose the corruption in the central government.  He also supported the Kudankulam protests and said they were fighting for a just cause. The allegations raised against the Kudankulam protestors stating that they have been receiving foreign aid to sabotage the nuclear project, were false.

Veteran CPI-M leader and former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had demanded the resignation of Defense Minister A K Antony, yesterday. “The inaction of Antony on such a serious issue amounted to treason. He has lost the moral right to continue in office,” Achuthanandan told reporters.
