Pillai has not called me or my secretary : CM

oommen-chandyThiruvananthapuram: Refusing the allegations raised by the opposition, Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy claimed that he has never spoken to the jailed minister R Balarkrishna Pillai. While talking at the press conference held at Thiruvananthapuram, he said that when the alleged call was made to his private secretary’s phone he was attending a public functions at Kirithas, Meenadom and Manarkad in Kottayam, where as his secretary was inChenganoor near the Mulakkuzhi tower.

Oommen Chandy said he had visited Pillai in jail when he was the opposition leader after getting permission from jail authorities. He said mediapersons too are witness to it. He said he later met Pillai after becoming the Chief Minister, that too only once, when Pillai was out on parole and was at home.

He alleged that opposition is only trying to divert attention from the attack on the teacher. Chandy said Balakrishna Pillai was given a A class jail prisoner status during the time of LDF. He also said there is no basis on the allegation that prisoners would not be given treatment at a private hospital. When EK Nayanar was the CM, some prisoners were given private hospital treatment under special circumstances.
