Cyrus to take over Tata empire

cyrus-mistry at the helm of Tata Mumabi: Ratan Tata appointed 43 year old Cyrus Mistry as his successor. Cyrus Mistry is the son of Shapoorji Pallonji, the largest shareholder of Tata Sons. The board of Directors of Tata Sons appointed Mistry as deputy chairman. Mr Cyrus Mistry will work under Ratan Tata for over a year and then take over from him the empire.

Reacting to his appointment Mr Mistry said, ” I feel deeply honoured by this appointment. I am aware that an enormous responsibility, with great legacy, has been entrusted to me. I will legally disassociate from the management of the family business to avoid any conflict of interest.”

“The appointemnet of Mr Cyrus as deputy chairman of Tata Sons is a good choice. He has been on he Board of Tata since August 2006 and I have been impressed with the quality and caliber of his participation, his astute observation and his humility. He is intelligent and qualified to take on the responsibility being offered and i will be committed to working with him over the next year to give him the exposure, the involvement and operating experience to equip him to undertake the full responsibility of the group on my retirement,” Mr Ratan Tata said.

Mr Mistry is a graduate of civil engineering from Imperial College London, and has a masters degree in management from London Business School.
