Demand for Idukki:TN MP’s sit on dharna

parliamentNew Delhi: Demanding the inclusion of Idukki in the state of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Congress MP’s sat on a dharna in front of parliament house today. They have asked the Centre to conduct a referendum on the issue. Theni MP JM Haroon along with seven other MP’s participated in the dharna.  The dharna was held before the Gandhi statue.

Two Tamil Nadu MP’s – J M Haroon and M B S Chitham – met the Prime Minister earlier asking him to adjoin Idukki to Tamil Nadu. Chithan however, claimed today that he had made no such demands. Conducting referendum is not Congress policy, he added. Revenue minister Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan said the demand of the  Tamil Ministers are a complete blunder. “Idukki was a part of Kottayam and Idukki.
