DMK strongman threatens TN CM

Chennai: Union Minister and senior DMK leader MK Alagiri today warned if his party returned to power in the state, it would not only arrest AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa but also take strong action against police officers who were allegedly filing false cases against DMK men.

‘If we come back to power, we will not only arrest Jayalalithaa but also take strong action against the policemen who are filing false cases against DMK men,’ Alagiri, who was here to meet his aide ‘Attack’ Pandi, imprisoned at the central prison here, told reporters.

‘The arrest of DMK men (on false cases) should be included among the achievements of the AIADMK government in the first 100 days,’ he added.

Just before Alagiri’s arrival at the central prison, former Transport Minister and senior DMK leader, K N Nehru, arrested earlier , was shifted to Cuddalore prison.

Meanwhile charge sheet has been filed against Union Minister M.K. Alagiri and other Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam functionaries in a case of attack against Tahsildar M.Kalimuthu, who was also the Assistant Returning Officer for Melur Assembly Constituency, during the State Assembly elections. The charge sheet, running over 100 pages, was submitted to the Judicial Magistrate Court in Melur on August 22.

On April 1,  Kalimuthu got information that  Alagiri and his supporters had gathered in Sri Valladikarar Swamy in Vellaloor village near Melur. The official, along with his videographer, rushed to the spot while  Alagiri was inside the temple, holding talks with the local representatives to seek the support for DMK candidate R. Rani who was contesting for the Melur seat.
