Explosive laden car at Ambala Cantt railway station

Bomb scareAmbala: Delhi Police officers were on their toes after they found a car packed with explosives at the Ambala cantonment railway station. The Delhi police investigating the September 07 Delhi High Court blast was tipped off about a possible terrorist attack at the railway station.

Five kilograms of RDX, besides detonators and a timer device was recovered from an Indica car with the same registration number as revealed in the tip off .The police that immediately swung into action after receiving the tip off, reached the spot at 6:30 pm. However, the bomb squad inspected the car only at midnight after a futile wait for the owner of the car.

Further investigation by the Haryana Police revealed that the registration number of the Indica — HR 03 0054 — was fake. As per reports, originally, the number belonged to a car owned by a businessman named Rahul from Panchkula, near Chandigarh. The investigators said that they have reasons to believe that the explosives were meant to target Delhi during the festive season.
