FDI for development is permitted: Pinarayi

pinarayi vijayanKasargode: CPIM state secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan clarified that acceptance of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for developmental process was not against party policies. Pinarayi Vijayan talking at a press meet held at Kasargode today, stated that the party had specific criteria for recieving Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). FDI does not hamper public good, he added.Pinarayi Vijayan also confirmed his meeting with the US councellors

The press meet was organised by the CPIM state secretary as a reaction to the Wikileaks revelations regarding the discussions between CPIM leaders and US officials.

Brief of his speech at the press meet

“They approached me for a meeting which was later organized at the AKG centre. The meeting had no specific agenda. They asked me if CPIM was against America. I replied that we were not against America we were only against American policies. They asked if we were against American investments in India. I said we were not against US investments in India. When they asked about the Plachimada agitation against Coco- Cola. I said that we were not against Coco- Cola because it is an American company, we were against it because of the environmental hazards it was creating.”

    After the wikileaks news came, all leaders are accepting that CPM leaders had discussion with american officials….
    Why the information regarding American officials’ visit was not made public by CPM officials …? was it because the discussion was of least importance OR…….?
