FIR has no discrepancies: Oommen Chandy

Oommen Chandy Thiruvananthapuram: The FIR report prepared by the police regarding the death of the two India fishermen by Italian Marines has no discrepancies said, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.  The FIR was prepared after analyzing every aspect of the case, he added. The claims that the FIR is weak is false. There are no corrections needed in the FIR, he added.

Chief Minister added that probe into the case was heading in the right track and the police are functioning efficiently. The Chief Minister spoke to the press today defending the police investigation. The Italian government is now accepting certain aspects of our views atleast,  regarding the firing case in which two Indian fishermen were shot dead by the Italian marines aboard the Enrica Lexie off Kerala coast on February 15.

The Kerala High Court while hearing a plea filed by the Italian consulate seeking cancellation of FIR against the two Italian marines, issued notices to State, Central governments.

The notice has been served on the State, Centre asking them to submit a reply affidavit within Tuesday. The Court also ruled that Italian authorities should cooperate with the ongoing investigation and also for recovering the weapon used for shooting the fishermen that has been kept in the ship itself.
