Foreign waste disposal machinery in Kerala: CM

oommen-chandyThiruvananthapuram: To solve the waste disposal problem, the state has decided to adopt the technology practiced in foreign countries. Truck mounted emergency incineration technology that has been tried and tested in several countries will be introduced in the state, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy while talking to press persons.

State intends to buy two units of the machinery and Sidco has been given charge. Each unit of the machinery would cost around three to four crore rupees. The CM stated that the decision was taken keeping in mind the the critical waste disposal problem the state is facing today.

The cabinet has also decided to extend the paddy procurement to all districts and increase the procurement price to Rs 15. The agriculture minister shall decide as to the place to which the procurement should be extended to. The cabinet has not discussed increasing the pension age of government employees and teachers to 56. A decision on this will be taken after the UDF meet.

The residence of Sukumar Azhikode in Thrissur will be taken over and converted into a memorial. The cabinet also approved setting up of an ayurveda hospital and 26 ayurveda dispensaries in the state. Land for building railway overbridges at Mooledam and Kumaranalloor in Kottayam will be taken up on a fast track basis.
