Gvt resumes talk with Maoists to release Italian hostage

italian-hostageBhubaneshwar: The state has resumed all negotiation processes for the release of the Italian citizen who is still in Maoists custody. The Maoists released Italian tourist Claudio Colangelo from their custody on Sunday afternoon and retained Italian citizen Bosusco Paolo, who had been living in Puri since long. He has been running a travel agency. The Maoists have clearly stated that they would not release Mr Paolo unless and until the state government fulfilled their demands.

The main demands of the Maoists include immediate release of at least 35 persons who had been arrested again soon after they had been acquitted by different courts of law in the State in the recent past. They have also demanded registration of cases against police officials and security personnel who were responsible for the incidents of rape, fake encounter and custodial torture leading to death as per the existing laws. Meanwhile, the abducted Biju Janata Dal legislator is still in Maoist custody.
