HC blocked gvt land acqusition plan

suzlon-in-AttappadiKochi: The High Court has thwarted the government’s intentions of acquiring the aadivasi land that was encroached by wind mill company-Suzlon Energy Limited . The court stated that it finds something to be amiss in the governments decision in taking over the encroached land.

The courts verdicts is a response to the petition submitted by the Sukon company opposing the governments over to acquire the land. The empowered company under the leadership of the chief secretary claimed that the land belonged to the aadivasi’s.

The government had decided to take over the land based on the report submitted by the empowered company. The government intended to take over the land and two wind mills established by the company. The aadivasi’s lost 85.21 acre land to the company. The Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had stated earlier, that a vigilance inquiry would be initiated against officials who were party to snatching the land off the hands of the aadivasi’s of the region.
