Human Rights Commission to inquire Dalit youth’s suicide

Dalit youthVithura: The Human Rights Commission is to inquire the suspicious death of the Dalit youth who hanged himself to death. The Dalit youth, Sinu (26)  is said to have been forlorn and depressed after he was brutally beaten up at the Thiruvananthapuram, Vithura Police station. Sinu hanged himself in his bedroom yesterday evening. The Human Rights Commission has stated that a detailed report would be submitted within three weeks.

In the wake of this event, two  police officers, SI Rajesh and ASI Jayakumar have been suspended.Sinu was celebrating Deepawali yesterday and was Gleefully bursting crackers. SI Rajesh who passed by his house irrationally yelled at Sinu. When Sinu dared to question the policeman’s action he was dragged to the police station and brutally beaten up. Sinu’s relative Babu released him on bail at 11pm.

After the incident Sinu was very disturbed. He is said to have shown his relatives his injuries and narrated the harsh treatment meted out to him. His relatives stated that he even stated that he would prefer to die. Sinu was found hanging in his room today morning. It is inferred that the disturbed Dalit youth committed suicide yesterday night.
