Ice cream case:Report submission time extended by 1 month

High-courtKochi: The Kerala High court has allotted one month time to submit the report of the sensational Ice Cream Parlour sex scandal case. The court stated that it will consider the case on January 30, 2011. ADGP Vincent Paul, SP Anoop Kuruvilla John SP Vijayan and DYSP Jaison Abraham were present in court.

The State Government today sought more time Kerala High Court to complete the investigation into the sensational ice cream parlour sex scandal case in Kozhikode. The Government also informed that 95 percent of probe has been completed. Though the government sought six weeks time to complete investigation , the court allotted four weeks, stating that as only 5% of the investigation is remaining one month would suffice.

The court had demanded the submission of the investigations progress report based on the petition filed by Opposition leader VS Achuthananthan. The special  investigation team submitted investigation progress report  and case diary before court in a sealed envelope. VS Achuthananthan’s advocate, Rajindar Sachar has requested the court to ask the investigation team to present the investigation progress report, so that they can help the investigation team in further investigation.The court however, stated that in this given point of time it would be best if external interference could be avoided. As the investigation is in progress it would be difficult to ascertain the direction of progress of the case. Mr Sachar also pointed out that the probe team has not yet questioned Minister Kunhalikutty in relation to the case.

The investigation team has questioned 129 witness and confiscated 104 documents. The IG stated that they have to question another 5 witnesses and verify few more documents. K A Rauf had brought out controversial documents in relation to the Ice Cream Palour case on January 28, 2011 against his relative Kunhalikutty. A special investigation team was appointed to look into the matter on February 3, 2011. On May 5, 2011 Opposition leader VS Achuthananthan demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI for investigation.
