IIT-Delhi student arrested for blackmailing IIT Kanpur girl

IIt Delhi student arrested Kanpur: IIT-Delhi BTech student was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for allegedly harassing and blackmailing an IIT-Kanpur student and threatening to upload her obscene videos and pictures on internet if she does not marry him. Surendra Bukhiya is said have also circulated obscene MMS of the girl. The victim registered a case at Kalyanpur police station in Kanpur on November 25. Surendra Bhukya, who was arrested from the IIT-Delhi campus, was taken to Kanpur and produced before a city court on Thursday. He will remain in judicial custody for 14 days.

The girl is said to have told the cops that she had lost her cellphone and ATM card on November 7.  According to her FIR statements she was abducted and after taking her to an Arya Samaj temple he demanded her to marry him. Surendra said the girl had dumped him after committing to marry him to which he had objected. The boy said that he belongs to a poor family and had been framed. He has denied all the charges and has stated the he was being framed in an attempt to “jeopardize” his academic career.

A police officer said the two hails from the same town in Andhra Pradesh and had known each other earlier. According to them the girl had broken off with the boy and he was harassing her over it.
