R Balakrishnan PillaiThiruvananthapuram: Jail ADGP has ordered an inquiry into Balakrishnan Pilla’s use of mobile phone even while he is a prisoner. A probe has been ordered under the direction of Chief Minister Oomen Chandy. Jail Welfare Officer PA Varghese will head the investigation as per jail section 81.

Pillai who was found to be guilty in the Idamalayar corruption case was sentenced to one-year imprisonment by the Supreme Court in February. Even though law curtails prisoners from using mobile phones, Pillai spoke to reporter channel yesterday to clarify his stand regarding the brutal assault on Krishnakumar (47), a teacher at the private RVVHS School at Valakam in Kollam district. The recorded telephone conversation was broadcast by the channel yesterday.

If  Pillai is proved to be guilty his four days of concession would be cancelled.
