Jailed Balakrishna Pillai talks to media

balakrishnappillaThiruvananthapuram: Former Minister Balakrishnan Pillai who is languishing in jail for his involvement in the Idamalayar case talked in detail to Reporter Channel today. He was clarifying his stand with respect to the brutal assault on teacher Krishnakumar of Kottarakara Vallakam Ramavilasam Vocational Higher Secondary School.

In a blatant violation of the law the minister who is undergoing treatment in KIMS hospital made this illegal call to reporter channel. The details of the conversation were made public by the reporter channel. The channels staff reporter Pradeep C Nedumanu spoke to Balakrishnan Pillai.

Even when a law exists curtailing the use of mobile phones for prisoners the minister casually conversed with the reporter over his own mobile phone.

Regarding his conversation with Pillai, Pradeep said, ” I called him at 9447155555. I had received information that this number was being used by Pillai for quite sometime. All those who are close to Pillai knows his number. Initially i tried to meet him in person. But i was not permitted to meet him as i was identified as a press personnel. Thus i called one of his close associates who gave me his number.”

Balakrishnan Pillai in his telephonic conversation said,” There is no problems related to my school. I came to know from the papers that one of the teachers met with an accident. i have asked the teachers to find and punish the culprits at the earliest. My party members have asked the police to take strict actions against the culprit.

The teacher’s relatives are trying to blame me for the crime. They have submitted a petition against me. Let the opposition leader prove that his assumptions are true. The victim first told the police that he met with an accident. He said that he would give  a statement later to the police. A teacher called Vivekanandan who had come to meet me at the hospital told me all the details.”

The minister pleaded and requested the media not to ever bring this conversation out into the public as he was not permitted to use phones or talk to media persons. As per law a prisoner has no right to meet people or make telephone conversations.
