Kannur Kanjirakolli tourism project

KanjirakolliKannur: Tourism consultant K Murali Menon and architect T V Madhukumar submitted a 30 crore  Kanjirakolli tourism project to Minister for Rural development K C Joseph. The project envisages developing  Kanjirakolli into a model highland tourism village. The high light of the project is the tourism based livelihood building programme that focuses on tribal welfare.

The report titled “Integrated Rural and Aesthetic Development Project” hopes to develop tourism with sustainable development in mind. The major feature of the rural development component include establishment of a green and organic village, rural development with the help of Department of Agriculture, Dairy Development, and Animal Husbandry as well as other agencies like the Coconut Development Board, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and the Horticultural Mission. Local festivals such as Payyavur ‘Ooyyulsavam’ which linked the local people and the Kodugu people will also be promoted.
