Kaviyoor case: Victim was raped by father, CBI report

women-harrasmentThiruvananthapuram: As per the CBI re-investigation report Anagha the victim of the Kaviyoor case was raped by her father Narayanan Namboothri. The CBI report was submitted before the CBI court today. Ramya Rajan is said to told the CBi in her statement that the victim had disclosed that her father was behaving in a weird and unnatural manner with her.

Earlier The CBI had submitted report with Latha Nair as the primary accused. However based on a petition filed by TP Nandan, the court ordered a further investigation into the case. As per the post mortem reports Anagha was raped 72 hours and 24 hours before her death.Though the investigation team had received evidence initially against Anagha’s father they had not made him an accused in the case. CBI stated that they did not include Anagha’s father as an accused as they were worried that Latha Nair who is a know person involved in several sex racket cases would walk out scott free.

Further investigation was felt to be imminent when the court questioned the CBI regarding the sperm that was found on the victims body. Sree Kumari had also sent a letter to the Chief Justice in relation to the case. KI Narayanan Namboodiri, his wife and three children were found dead at their rented house at Kaviyur near Thiruvalla on September 28, 2004. The body of Narayanan Namboodiri was found hanging from a fan inside the bedroom. His wife, Shobhana (35) and children, Anakha (15), Akhila (8) and Akshay (5), were found to have consumed poison and their bodies were lying in two other rooms.

The deceased Namboodiri of Mayyil Kanikkamparambu Kundumkara Illom in Kannur district was the melsanthi at a Siva temple under the Travancore Devaswom Board  at Chumatra near Thiruvalla. He was also running an astrology centre at Kaviyur. There were reports on his suspicious `connection’ Lata Nair who is said to have frequented their house. Lata Nair is the key accused in a sex racket case involving a girl from Kiliroor in Kottayam district. A `suicide note’ left by the deceased Namboodiri said that “Lata too was responsible” for the death.
