Kiliroor case: 5 found guilty

kiliroor sex scandal case verdictThiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram CBI court have found guilty five accused in the Kiliroor case. Except for the seventh accused all others accused have been convicted by the court.

Praveen, 24, and Manoj, 19, both conductors attached to the Guruvayur depot of the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC); Latha Nair of Mallappalli; Binu alias Kochumon, 30, of Kottayam; Prasanth, 23, conductor at the KSRTC Guruvayur depot; Somanathan alias Soman, 46, of Kumali; Abdul Lathif alias Collector Lathif, 52, and V.K. Devadas, 47 were the accused in the case.

The CBI had submitted a charge sheet with 7 accused. Omanakutty who was the primary accused was made approver. The second accused Praveen, third accused Manoj, fourth accused  Latha Nair, fifth accused Prashanth, sixth accused Kochumon, have been convicted by court. Soman the seventh accused in the court has been acquitted by court.

Soman is said to have made all preparations for Praveen and Kochumon to rape Shari at the Kumily guest house. Praveen (30), the second accused in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case  had earlier admitted before the CBI  special Court that he had fathered Shaari’s (victim) child. The Court while recording the statements of the accused informed that the DNA test conducted on Praveen to determine the paternity of the child was positive.

18 year old Shari S Nair, hailing from Kiliroor was sexually abused many people by promising a bright future in the television industry. The Shaari case was first investigated by local police later the case was taken by crime branch and finally by CBI. The CBI verdict comes after four months of trial. The trail for the case commenced in October last year. 67 witnesses were tried at court. 48 documents were scrutinized.
