Kiliroor case: No VIP link says IG Sreelekha

sreelekhaThiruvananthapuram: There is no VIP link in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case said IG R Sreelekha in her statement that was recorded before the CBI special court. Thomas Chandy and K P Mohan were interrogated by the CBI court. In her statement I G Sreelekha said that Shaari the victim in the Kiliroor case was not abused while she was in Alappuzha. IG Sreelekha was interrogated by the special CBI court as she was the officer who conducted primary investigations in the case.

Shaari’s parents had insisted that Sreelekha was influenced and a petition for reinvestigation was submitted before the court. The petition will be considered the court on Friday. Shaari was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital at Thellakom in a critical condition on 2004 August 28. Shaari had given birth to a girl child at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital on August 15 and had developed post-natal complexities. She got discharged from the hospital but was soon readmitted to the private nursing home.

After spending more than two months at the nursing home, she was removed to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital on the advice of a medical team set up by the Government. During her extended stay at the hospitals, she had developed hepatitis and later her kidneys too failed to function.

Sreelekha has been accused of not taking the statements of Shaari and they suspect foul play in the handling of the case.  Sreelekha was awarded the best police officer award by the former MLA Thomas Chandy who was also a suspect in the case. This has raised further suspicion regarding the inspecting officers integrity and credibility.
