Kiliroor Sex Scandal: Hearing postponed to Oct 18

CourtKochi: Eranakulam Special CBI court postponed the hearing of the Kiliroor sexual abuse case to October 18, 2011. Kottayam Mallapalli Kullapara Kundalaveetil Latha Nair is the primary accused in the case.

Along with Latha eight others would face hearing on October 18.  The court conducted a reading of the case file against the accused on July 19, 2011. As the accused denied the charges filed against them the court had decided to conduct the hearing of witnesses today, which has now been postponed to the 19th of next month.

The case was initially investigated by the local police. According to official sources, a request was sent to the Centre requesting CBI enquiry in view of the political nature of the case and the reported involvement of prominent persons. Accusations were also raised against two Kottayam private hospitals with regard to the death of the victim. Though political and media heads and relatives of the victim were accused, no evidence was found by the CBI to prove their involvement in the case.

In the infamous 2003 Kiliroor Sex Scandal, a teenage girl named Sari S Nair, hailing from Kiliroor, Kottayam, Kerala was sexually abused by being promised roles in TV serials. She was taken to many places in and around Kerala and was allegedly exploited sexually by “influential persons”.
