Kingfisher staff call off strike

kingfisherMumbai: The ice begins to thaw between the Kingfisher Airlines management and the staff. Sources say that the staff has agreed to cooperate with the airlines management and called off the strike. Vijay Mallya has promised salaries to the junior staff by Wednesday. Mallya met employee representatives on Monday evening at his residence and the negotiations went on till 4 this morning.

The pilots and engineers were happy with the meeting and termed it to be a fruitful exercise. Mr Mallaya has however not given them an assurance in black and white. The employees stated that they would go on a strike if they were not paid their dues in the next couple of days.

Yesterday, the agitated engineers and pilots gave a letter to the management with an ultimatum to either disburse their salaries by Tuesday or be ready to face a strike despite Mallya’s assurance. Mallya had promised that the junior staff would be paid before Easter on April 4 and all pilots and engineers would get their salaries on April 9 and April 10.

Kingfisher employees had also appealed to the players of Royal Challenger Bangalore to boycott Indian Premier Leauge (IPL) cricket matches starting April 4.
