Pillai’s release: Democracy is crumbling

C-K-ChandrappanThiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary C K Chandrappan has stated that Balakrishna Pillai and his son Ganesh Kumar were arm-twisting the government taking advantage of the slender majority it had in the Assembly. He alleged that the government had succumbed to the pressure by granting parole to Pillai out of the way by overlooking jail rules and issuing special orders to facilitate his admission in a five-star hospital while undergoing imprisonment.

According to him this is on this day when Kerala celebrates Kerala Piravi the citizens are witnessing the crumbling of the democratic and judiciary system. The legislative and executive power has been misused, he added.

Former Kerala Minister, Balakrishnan Pillai who has been convicted in the Edamlayar graft case  has been released from jail, under the cover of granting remission for convicts on the State Formation (Kerala Piravi) Day. The Jail ADGP will issue formal orders for the release of convicts after proper evaluation. Th Kerala Congress (b) leader was undergoing one years rigorous imprisonment for corruption.
