Love your neighbour

RamakrishnanChennai: Politically and ideologically they are miles apart. But this did not prevent the CPI (M) from inviting the BJP for the inauguration of the new party building in T Nagar in Chennai on Sunday. Probably the BJP was the only party, other than the CPI, that was invited for the inauguration.

BJP’s State president  Radhakrishnan along with a group of BJP leaders visited the new building and were received by CPI(M) State secretary G Ramakrishnan and MP TK Rangarajan. “They are our neighbours. The BJP office is only three buildings away from our office on Vaidyaraman Street,” said Mr Ramakrishnan.

In fact, the CPI (M) invited all the residents of the street for the inaugural function. “We went to every house and invited them for the function. We organised a meeting on the street in connection with inauguration of the new building and the residents should not feel that we have caused disturbance to them,” he explained.

The two-storeyed building with conference halls and accommodation facilities for the leaders was inaugurated by senior CPI (M) leader N. Sankaraiah. The building named after late CPI (M) leader P. Ramamurthi has come up in the space available in front of the party office.
