Lt Gen(Rtd)Tejinder Singh files defamation case

tejinder-singhNew Delhi: Lieutenant General (Retired) Tejinder Singh filed a defamation case against Army Chief General VK Singh and five others in connection with the bribery allegations made against him in the court of a metropolitan magistrate at Patiala House. Lt General Singh’s lawyer, Anil Agarwal told Times Now that charges against his client are outrageous.

Tejinder Singh said that General Singh in fact recommended his name for a top post in the government post retirement. The retired General had further said that the meeting which he had with the Army Chief in September 2010 was personal. The meeting had nothing to do with any contract, he added. He also denied allegations that he represents an organization called Tatra which supplies trucks to the Army.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to ask for a formal complaint from Army chief VK Singh in connection with his allegation. Action would be initiated after getting a formal complaint from Gen Singh. They said besides the complaint, he would also have to provide other details like date of meeting with the lobbyist, a possible witness list and supporting documents among other details in the case. They said they have received a “reference” from the Defence Ministry to probe the matter and it has been processed as per the laid down procedure. The agency sources said a preliminary enquiry or an FIR could be registered soon after completion of the procedural requirements.
