Mullaperiyar issue:Black flag armed protestors detain CM

Oomen chandy Palakkad: Tamilnadu’s Periyar Dravidazhakam volunteers raised slogans and black flags against Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy in protest against the state’s move to construct a new dam in Mullaperiyar.

With slogans and raised black flags Periyar Dravidazhakam volunteers, who had assembled near Valanthaimaram near Meenakshipuram, detained the Chief Minister who was on his way to Parambikulam to inaugurate the Parambikulam police station . The Chief Minister could continue on his journey only after the police arrested almost 30 activists. The activists had assembled at Valanthaimaram early today morning. the arrest occured today at 7 am.

Pollachi Police Superintendent and Palaghat police Superintendent led the team of police force that conducted the arrest.
