Mullaperiyar water level increased to 136.6 ft

mullapperiyarKumily: The water level in Mullaperiyar dam has increased to 136.6 feet due the intense rains that the place witnessed the other day. As per the meteorological survey the area will witness heavy rain today. Yesterday morning the water level was 136.4 feet and after the rains the water level increased to 136.6 feet.

The district collector had issued a high alert to those living on the banks of the Periyar River. The water level  in Idukki dam has also increased. To decrease the water level in Idukki dam the government has decided to increase  electricity production. The maximum retaining capacity of the dam is 130 feet. The excess water was let out through 13th spillway into the Periyar river.
