I wish Modi gets sadbuddhi : Vaghela

modi fasts- gujarat riotsAhemdabad: The Chief Minister Narendra Modi begins his fast toady at 10 am. Modi is to celebrate his 61st birthday with a Sathbhavana 3 day fast at the Gujarat University exhibition hall. The tainted Gujarat Chief Minister met his mother Narmada Bai in the morning to take her blessing.

Parkash Singh Badal of the Shiromani Akali Dal leaders and AIADMk workers representing Jayalalithaa would attend the fast in a show of solidarity for the casue. Advani, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and the BJP will give all back up. The participation of these parties is being showcased as Mr Modi’s wider political acceptance.

Nitish Kumar of the JD(U), has refused to be part of this drama. Six km away, Congress veteran and Modi’s one-time RSS colleague Shankarsinh Vaghela is fasting too – in protest against Mr Modi’s fast. Mr Vaghela, surrounded by Congressmen all in Gandhi caps, has begun his fast at the Gandhi Ashram an hour before Mr Modi’s. He will end two hours after Mr Modi does and has sent across a message – “I wish Mr Modi happy birthday and hope he will get sadbuddhi (better sense).”

Modi tweeted, “On my way to the venue of fast for Sadbhavana Mission. Join the Prayer for Togetherness, in person or online.” Modi had also written a second letter yesterday addressing the people of his state. “My dear Brothers and Sisters! No State, society or individual can claim to be perfect. I am grateful to all those who pointed out my genuine mistakes during last 10 years. I seek your blessings to serve the people with devotion free from all human shortcomings. As Chief Minister of the State, the pain of each and every citizen is my own pain. Ensuring Justice to all is the duty of the State.”

“The six crore people of Gujarat are working together for their own development and that of the State. The poorest of the poor is a partner in this process and is confident that he will get the fruits of development. Everyone has inculcated the State’s ethos of ‘Development of all with Cooperation of all’ (Sabka Saath – Sabka Vikaas).

Our country is a shining example of Unity in Diversity. I am confident that with your blessings, this Sadbhavna Mission will further strengthen our social fabric.”

Narendra Modi has been the prime accused in his alleged involvement in the 2002 Gujarat riots. It is alleged that the Chief Minister told officials at a crucial law and order meeting on the February 27 to go slow on rioters, and that he positioned senior ministers and party functionaries at selected police control rooms to monitor riots and ensure police inaction. The Gujarat riots left 2000 Muslims dead. It was one of the greatest Hindu Muslim communal riots that India has seen after the 1947 partition of India Pakistan.

Congress veteran, Shakarsinh Vaghela accused Modi of not visiting a single Muslim victim of the 2002 riots. The victims of the massacre have expressed their sadness. The riot victims who have lost their loved ones say the least he can do is apologize publicly.

Can Modi wash off the blood on his hands with a three day fast is yet to be seen by the country. Will the country see through this farce and tear open this facade of innocence?
