Pak Marines opened fire on Indian trawler; one injured

The incident happened off the Gujarat coast.One Indian fisherman has been injured as Pakistan marines opened fire at an Indian trawler today.The incident happened near the international border in Arabian sea off the Jakhau, Gujarat coast.

“One of the six fishermen on board, Daya Bhai, sustained bullet injuries when Pakistan Marine Security Agency personnel opened indiscriminate fire on them late last night as they were fishing in international sea,” Marine police officials said today. The Indian fishermen were on board the boat Sagar Suraj. The vessel ‘Sagar Bhuja’ belongs to Porbandar and had gone for fishing. The injured fisherman has been admitted to a hospital in Okha.

There have been incidences in the area of fishermen being taken into custody in the past for trespassing. However, a fisherman being shot at was a serious matter and the coastguards were looking into it. A case has been registered in this regard with the Marine Police station in Okha
