Pakistan arrests 20 Indian fishermen

India pakistan borderNew Delhi: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency arrested twenty Indian fishermen and four boats for allegedly intruding into Pakistani waters, an official statement said today. The arrest occurred in the early hours of morning. They were accused of their  ‘continuous intrusion of Pakistani waters’, officials claimed.

The fishermen have been handed over to police in Karachi for ‘necessary action’. India and Pakistan detain hundreds of fishermen every year on charges of violating the maritime boundary. The two countries have taken steps in recent months to expedite the release of fishermen who have completed their jail terms.
