Vilappilsala waste treatment plant shut down

vilappilsala waste treatment plant Thiruvananthapuram: Vilappil panchayat and Janakeeya Samithi closed down the Vilappilasala solid-waste treatment plant as they claim that the disposal plant was functioning without the necessary license. This action from the panchayat authorities have affected the waste disposal  activities of Thiruvananthapuram city.  The government has decided to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy has convened a meeting to be held today at 11pm with agitators.

The Vilappilsala Janakeeya Samithi agitators organized a protests and blocked the movement of  garbage trucks to factory on December 21. This prompted the Vilappil panchayat President  Shobhana Kumari to pass a resolution ordering the shutting down of the controversial waste treatment  plant. The resolution was passed at the panchayat meeting. The Panchayath sent a notice to city corporation asking them to close the factory. They also sent a notice to water authority and electricity board asking them to cut electricity and water to the plant.
