Playwright Vayala Vasudevan Pillai passes away

vayala-vasudevan-pillaiKochi: Prominent playwright Vayala Vasudevan Pillai passed away at a private hospital here, today. Vayala Vasudevan Pilla, the disciple of playwright Shankara Pillai was the former director of the School of Drama.

His contribution to the world of drama as received national recognition. He has been awarded 9 state awards and 3 national awards for his exemplary work. He is also the recipient of Sangeetha Nadaka Academy Award.

Agni, Vishwa Drashanam, Thulaseeravam, Ithile Ithile, Varavelpe, Kuchela Dhara, Soothra Dhara where few of his prominet works. He has also served as visiting professor at Japans Mei-ji university.

His funeral will be at Cheruthuruthi tomorrow in the evening.
