Power from Kudankulam only for TN: Jayalalithaa

jayalalithaaChennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a letter forwarded to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, demanded that the entire 2000 MW power to be generated by Kudankulam plant should be given only to Tamil Nadu state in view of the “severe power shortage. She said it would be “proper and justifiable that the entire power to be generated from the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is made available to Tamil Nadu.”

The Kudankulam nuclear plant, got green signal from the AIADMK government just two weeks ago. The plant is expected to generate 2000 MW of power. Of this 925 MW was meant to be for Tamil Nadu. But now the Chief Minister wants the whole 2000 MW for the state citing acute power shortage. In her letter to the PM, Ms Jayalalitha says she had demanded 1000MW power from the Centre but had received just 100 MW.
