Resilient Rhythms

Docu Gallary/ Gopal Menon

The documentary directed by India’s renowned documentary maker Gopal Menon is a tribute to the 160 million Dalits who are living on the edge where basic human dignity is denied to them. “Resilient Rhythms” is the first comprehensive film attempted in India on the Dalits’ issues, and deals with a range of Dalit responses, from armed struggles to electoral politics. India’s caste system of social stratification and social restriction is perhaps the world’s longest-surviving social hierarchy. Even while exploiting their services their acceptance as human being is denied to them.
