SC deffers case on Chidambaram

chidambaramNew Delhi: The 2G special CBI court on Monday postponed the hearing of a petition by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy seeking that Home Minister P Chidambaram be made a co-accused in the 2G scam case. The hearing has been deferred to November 8.

The postponement occurred as most of the court officials were on leave due to the upcoming festival season. The Supreme Court’s orders on the charges against Chidambaram are also expected to be finalized by the date given by the special court. The Janata Party President has accused Chidambaram of masterminding the 2G spectrum case. Mr Chidambaram was the Finance Minister when the telecom scam unfolded in 2008.

BJP leader LK Advani said in a statement, “Despite elaborate attempts at a cover-up, the role of former Finance Minister and incumbent Home Minister P Chidambaram, clearly merits serious investigation.”
