SC stays Kerala HC verdict: self-financing medical college case

New Delhi:  Supreme Court has given green signal to all self financing medical colleges to proceed with medical admissions and to complete the same within August 31, 2011. The high court verdict which cancelled the entrance exam conducted by self financing managements last week, was stayed by the Supreme Court here, today.

The Kerala High Court declared the entrance examination conducted by 11 private medical colleges as null and void and asked the state government to take over all the seats, the admissions for which to be made from government entrance exam list. Justice Antony Dominic delivered the judgment after a student filed a petition alleging that the private college managements flouted the rules.

According to the rules, 50 percent of the seats every year could be filled up by the private managements after conducting their own entrance examination.
