Senior CPI (M) leader N Varadarajan passed away

varadarajanChennai: Senior CPI (M) leader and former Central Committee member N Varadarajan (84) passed away here this morning at a private hospital due to illness. Varadarajan who was in Kozhikode, to attend a conference of the party, developed health complications and was rushed back to the city where he was admitted at a private hospital. A three time MLA, Varadarajan who was not keeping well for the past two to three years. This morning he complained of uneasiness. Doctors declared that Varadarajan breathed his last without responding to treatment. His body was kept at the party’s T Nagar office for people to pay their respects.

It will be taken to his hometown Dindigul where the last rites would be performed on Wednesday, the party said in a release. The party flag would be flown at half-mast for the next three days as a mark of respect to the departed leader, it said. Leaders cutting across party lines have condoled the death of Varadarajan, stating that his demise was a great loss to the country. N Varadarajan is an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as CPI  candidate from Dindigul constituency in  1977 election, as an Independent candidate in 1980 election.
