Ship collides with boat off Kerala coast; two dead

boat-accidentAlappuzha: Two fishermen have been killed after their fishing boat collided with a ship off the Alleppey coast in Kerala. The incident occurred at 2:30 am, 50 nautical miles off the coast.The fishing boat Dona –1 that met with the accident had seven people onboard. The boat set to sea for fishing from Neendakara. Of the seven fishermen only two people have been rescued so far. Michel and Joseph who were rescued have been admitted to Alleppey Medical hospital.

Those who died have been identified as Justin from Kovilthottam and Xavier from Puthanthura. The Coast Guard and the police have launched a rescue operation to trace the three missing fishermen. No whereabouts of the ship are available as yet. Navy PRO said all efforts are being taken to trace the ship.
