SHRC not to intervene in Mullaperiyar issue

MullapperiyarThiruvananthapuram: The State Human Rights Commission informed the state government that it would not interfere in the Mullaperiyar issue as the matter is under the consideration of the Supreme Court. The decision of the SHRC was made public by its Chairman JB Koshy.  The court has already asked the empowered committee to look into the matter.

Mr Koshy also opined that the Prime Minister cannot do anything about the Mullaperiyar issue. He could only initiate a talks between the two states and attempt to solve the matter amicably. According to Mr Koshy the issue is blown out of proportion by the politicians and the media of the two states.
