Sister Mary Ancy death:Probe report submitted

mary-ancyKochi: The police team submitted it investigation report on the mysterious death of sister Mary Ancy in Poonkulam Holy spirit convent, at the Kerala High Court today.The report was  submitted by  Fort Assistant commissioner Radhakrishnan Nair. As per the report sister Mary Ancy died of drowning but there were also marks on her body that indicated a struggle.

The police had also interrogated Yuijn (a policeman) and Vijayan (local resident), who were said to have left the convent compound early morning on August 17. More than 60 people have been questioned so far in connection with the incident.

Sister Mary Ancy was found dead in a water tank at the Holy Spiritual Convent at Poonkulam, Thiruvananthapuram. The body was recovered by the inmates of the convent. Police had suspected foul play because the slab covering the tank was found to be manually displaced. The nun went missing from her room where she had gone to sleep last night after prayers.

The State Human Right’s Commission (SHRC) had interrogated the convent staff in connection with the case. The investigation was organized based on a complaint handed to the commission by human rights activist Jomon Puthenpurackal.
