2G scam: Swamy submits documents against Chidambaram

subhrahmanian swamyNew Delhi: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy submitted documentary evidence on Home Minister P Chidambaram’s involvement in the 2G spectrum scam before a Special Judge in Delhi. The  Delhi court  has differed the case to Januray 21. “Put up for arguments on the application for summoning of accused on January 21,” Special CBI Judge O P Saini said.

Swamy told the court “This evidence reveals the connivance, collusion and consent of then Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the decisions taken by the then Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MOC&IT) A Raja in the matter of fixing the price of spectrum licence and in the matter of permitting two companies which received the licences namely Swan and Unitech in dilution of shares even before roll out of their services.”

The documents submitted by him include memos of the Finance Ministry, the CIT and copies of letters exchanged between Chidambaram who was the then Finance Minister, and former telecom minister A Raja and the Prime Minister. The documents also include a January 15, 2008 letter written by Chidambaram to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.  Swamy also placed on record the certified copy of the minutes of a meeting between Chidambaram, Raja and the Prime Minister during the tenure of Raja as the MOC&IT.

Swamy told the court that he wanted to make Chidambaram a co-accused in the 2G scam. He has alleged that Chidambaram colluded with Raja on matters related to fixing of the spectrum, allowing the dilution of shares of two companies Unitech and Swan. Swamy claimed that Chidambaram was involved in criminal breach of trust and had compromised national security. He will now argue on summoning Chidambaram based on the documents produced on January 21.
