Swiss loan package: CM changes colours

swiss loan company-wind powerPalaghat: The Attapadi adivasi leaders accused the Chief Minister Oomen Chandy of  treachery and deception for making baseless, false statements to the media. Attapadi advivasi’s, the owners of the land on which wind turbines are to be built, strongly opposed the government package that is to lease land to a Swiss loan company.

The adivasi’s made it clear that they had not claimed to be satisfied with a share of profit from the company instead, they had insisted that the details of land ownership should be made public.At a meeting held a few days back the adivasi’s had requested the Chief Minister to divulge the land ownership details. The Chief Minister, after seeking the advise of the Palaghat District Collector, however,  stated that the required informatiomn could be solicited only after a period of three months. In the given situation the tribals had requested to postpone all land deals for 3 months.

The adivasi leaders claim that the Chief Minister who met the press after the meeting took a 360 degree turn and reverted his stand. The Chief Minister Oomen Chandy told the press that the government had reached a consensus with the the adivasi regarding the distribution of profit incurred form the wind turbines installed at the adivasi land. ‘This is treachery’, the adivasi leader said.
